This week’s clue was a little challenging – only six people got it right!
The winner of 499 Bucketlist points is:
Marissa Smithwick, a project coordinator for the Projects & Infrastructure Modernization Division, who correctly guessed the current location of the bronze likeness of E.O. Lawrence.
Berkeley Lab’s entrance sign on Cyclotron Road bears a now familiar bronze likeness of Ernest Orlando Lawrence. But did you know that the artist who created it is one of the Lab's most prolific and little known resident artists? Flavio Robles, Jr. – who worked at the Lab from 1984 to 2011 and was part of the Technical and Electronic Information department – fashioned the bronze plaque in 1996. Read more of Robles’ story in the June 16, 2000 edition of Berkeley Lab’s “Currents,” a forerunner of the Elements newsletter.
